Inside or Outside

5_19_15-b

It is great to paint outside looking at wonder of nature. I can hear the birds singing and wind hitting my face. The painting becomes a reflection of what and how I feel while moving my brush. But reality is quite different from what I think best for me. I can not concentrate in the open area. Bugs love me. I do not like to carry so much stuffs which I need to paint outside. I can not have a tea time with my beautiful china in AC controlled room. I am destine to paint inside. But someday when I am courageous I will go out and try my best.

Nicholas Anokhin

Dance-a1

Nicholas Anokhin is one of the artists I admire very much. Just looking at his painting I wonder into his world. His rich application of color, texture…well… just about everything is what I like to see in paintings.  When I was painting this image, I thought about the way he painted the oak tree and how successfully he captured the appearance of the tree bark. So I applied a little texture to my tree too. I had a fun.

Early Morning at lake

Early-Morning-in-Lake

The tropical storm brought a lot of rain this weekend and our backyard looks like a swamp. But the air is clear and nice. Definitely it is a beginning of the summer. We are sitting in the screened porch and enjoying the end of the weekend. I have just finished this painting and thinking about next one. Life is good.

David A. Leffel

5_8_15

David A. Leffel knows how to create beautiful images. He can manipulate oil medium like a magic. Some day I like to figure out his magic which he is generously explaining how to approach the solutions. Yet I am still standing in the heavy mist and do not know where I am. There are so much to learn and practice. Good thing is that I have a patience, but oh..how I envy many artists who know what they are doing.

Loose and Tight

bottles 9.5 x 8.5

I painted these bottles before. It did not work out well. Probably because its dimensions were too big. This is a small painting and works much better. But I am sighing because I am trying to loose up a bit and ended up with a super tight painting. Next painting will be created with all soft edges….. but possesing the Baroque drama..at least I can hope.

Summer is here

drapery2

School is over and real summer has started. However, I was so busy that I did not have a time to pick up a pencil nor a brush to create a new image for a past few days. Next two days I will participate in The North Charleston Art Festival and teach little children “Origami”. So I will be not painting again. But I have a lot of ideas and am ready to go back to my eager self. This is an image I drew as an example for the drapery project. Last week I posted another drapery which I did as an exercise. Compared with my exercise image, this one took a quite long time to finish. I probably stood in front of the hanged sheet for at least four hours. But I think that it turned out be nice.

Beautiful Sunday

Tree-Park-3-

I started this image this morning. But the outside is so beautiful that we decided to work on our yard. Mowing, planting flowers, watering plants, and so on, there were so much to do. It was a fun playing with nature but too much sun made us tired. Therefore I do not work on this painting any more. It is done. I will start new image tomorrow. Now we are going to cook the salmon filet, rice, and salad. Wonderful Sunday!

Rainy Day

Tree-Park-2b

It is a rainy day. Everybody is taking a nap including dogs and cats. I am enjoying painting in my studio. Rain is so gentle that I can not hear any sounds but I can see the leaves moving slightly. It is a perfect day spending my time in studio.

School Project

Still-Life-at-School-3

The spring semester is almost over. We are drawing the final project which is a still Life set in the class room. We started yesterday and will work on this drawing until next Monday. I also located myself among students and drew with them. It was a quite fun listening to their chatting while we drew. It took a few hours for me to finish this image. I hope that they will finish theirs soon.
