Ashley River

Ahley-River1

Ashley Rever is a blackwater/tidal river. When we went there a few days ago, it happened to be low tide. Its exposed shore line was non-colored but quite shiny. The contrast between the shiny sand and rich green of forage was somehow very strange to me.

After the rain

Board-Work-6_23_15

We woke up very early this morning and went to Ashley River  next to the Dorchester Road. Since it rained so hard yesterday that everything was covered with vivid green. The temperature was not high yet and we had a pleasant time walking through the greens.

Daily painting

6_19_15-lake-3

It is wonderful to paint and draw in small dimensions. If the basic structure works then painting will be done in the same session. If I like the painting, it is good. If I do not like what I did, then I can try new approach to solve the problems which I encountered. Painting on a small canvas is a great learning process for me. However, the downside of this sami-daily painting is that I am running out of the images I like to paint. I need to move to Colorado or Pensilvania to find the inspiring landscape, or I need to foster my sensitivity. I know that many artists have incredible eye and mind to find the beauty presented in front of them, but unfortunately I am not one of them. What am I going to paint tomorrow?

Hot Summer

Nice-day6

It is 4:30 pm, bright and hot outside. Suddenly I heard the sander. Of course I rushed outside. Very masculine white cloud is growing rapidly against the most beautiful blue sky. It is summer. The tv said that there are 20% chance of rain today. It is very strange that I was painting autumn tree inside.

Landscape painting

Magnoria-G-a1

I have been working on the interior of the gallery for past two days and somehow I can not finish it. I kept changing values which I established at the beginning stage. At least that is what I thought I did right. I was very frustrated and switched to a new canvas. Painting landscape is much fun.

King Street

Gallery-14x11

There are so many interesting galleries and stores in the King Street,  downtown Charleston. I wondered around  many places last week and enjoyed every place I went. I had not painted the interior of building before. So I challenged myself to capture the inside and outside light. I do not know how to do it in right way yet. But this is my first step toward the new subject. I am going to try the other side of this gallery tomorrow and see what will happen. 14″ x 11″ Canvas Oil

Marbles

bottles-B2-6X6

The shiny and transparent objects fascinate me. I remember when I was little, I held my mothers jewelry against sunshine and was captivated by the lovely colors. I am sure that they were fashion jewelries but awfully beautiful. I still feel the same way when I see the marbles. They are heavenly.
