Painting Class

strips

This is one of the paintings I did when I was a student in Painting 1 class. Oh..It was over 30 years ago. I learned how to apply the color temperature, saturation, and value differences to create the 3-D illusion. I painted this rather large image in less than 2 hours. I am surprised how loosely I applied paints instead of my present tight approach toward image making. I think that is the reason I wanted to paint the blue strips again and somehow change the direction of painting approach.

Dream

1_18_16-Dream

My cat, Tiger, sleeps during the day and play at night. She finds the best location for the day and take a nap, especially in the afternoon. It must be really nice to be a cat.

Strips

1_11_16-bottle-with-strips

I wanted to paint the fabrics with light blue and white strips…need to be one inch wide. Sometimes I get a strange idea and feel like need to do it. What I found out was that no fabric store in Charleston area has the fabrics with this patterns. So I painted the skinny green and white patterns. I still like to paint the light blue and white patterns. I need to get it over with it.

Cherry Blossom

Cherry-blossom-12_31_15

At the end of the street there is a beautiful cherry tree…can be an apple tree. They are very confusing to me. Anyway this tree produces most beautiful flowers I ever seen. During the spring it becomes my routine to stop and admire the flowers as a part of my daily walk. The pink and light green create most spring like color and this fresh combination of colors encourages me to plant more flowers to my yard.

Rose

Roses are very fascinating flower to paint. I like the pink ones more than any other colored roses.

Edisto Memorial Gardens

Rose-12_27_15

There is a beautiful rose garden in Orangeburg, SC. This garden locates right next to I-26 between Charleston and Colombia. If you have a chance to go near this area, I recommend anybody who likes roses to stop by this garden. There are so many different roses, and they are blooming all year long. It is simply wonderful.

Winter in Promisland

12_18_15-Winter-in-promisland

It is unseasonably warm in SC. The red geranium and chrysanthemum are still happily blooming in my backyard. I thought about the cold winter weather in PA and painted this image. But my friend told me that it has been 70s in the Pocono Mountain now. I love the warm weather but Christmas in PA need to be really cold and wonderful.  Sorry Judy!
