Troubled mind

6_23_16

Many not wonderful things happened in a past few weeks. As a consequence my mind was not in peace. It is very hard to concentrate on anything when our mind is in trouble. Finally I finished this image and feel better. Painting becomes therapeutic to me. I am going to start new image tomorrow and will feel much better. Now we will sit in the screened pouch with cool drinks in our hand and enjoy the end of the hot summer day.

Memorial Day

Civil-War-6_1_16

I thought a lot about soldiers this weekend. It does not matter which country nor time they belong to. My heart was filled with indescribable feeling of compassion for humanity. I painted this calvary soldier from a photograph I took at a Civil War reenactment here in Charleston, South Carolina.

Rainy Day

Tree-Park-5_30_16

I thought that the tropical storm was gone. But the TV said that it is still hanging over our area. At least our hydrangea are very happily blooming. During the thunder storm yesterday afternoon, I painted this image. I thought about Corot and George Inness. Sometimes I dream about many artists traveling around the world and doing nothing but sketching and painting. It must be so wonderful.

Tropical Storm

Tree-Park-5_29_16

It was raining since last night. Lightning and thunder filled up the sky this morning. But it is suddenly quiet now. It must be over. I guess that summer is here.

The surface for paint application

Bottles-5_13_16

I am still looking for the perfect ground for my painting. I tried just about everything I can think about. What I like to paint on is something very smooth and solid. The canvas has too much texture. The illustration and gessoed board are very good but not quite sturdy. For this painting I used the wood panel. I applied the gesso on the row wood surface. I do not think that I applied enough gesso on to its surface for my preference. Of course I layered four times and sanded in between layers. I guess that my quest for the ideal surface quality for my painting will be continued.

Summer Again

Tree-Park-5_13_16

It has been almost a year since I started this blog site. It was a kind of busy year. Now the summer vacation is here and I can be a happy painter again. I intend to wake up early in the morning and go to my studio with a wonderful cup of coffee in my hand. I am ready to paint slightly bigger work…but not too big yet.

This is an image of the tree park I adore. The contrast between the dark and light are so striking that I thought of the drama in the nature.

Wisteria

4_9_16

I have never seen so many wisterias other than in South Carolina. When I am driving in spring, I go into the wisteria wonderland. Their flowers are so beautiful that I had to paint them. When the wisteria season is over, then the serious flower season will start and I will live in my back yard. Oh, how I love spring!

Spring

2_21_16

Yesterday I bought the freesia bulbs and sweet pea seeds. I am so anxious to start yard works. Spring in South Carolina is wonderful, I can grow almost anything in my backyard without any special care. It will be so nice to sit in the back porch with sweet iced tea in my hand and looking at the butterflies wondering around my beautiful flowers…..probably I will stop painting bottles and start painting colorful flowers soon.

Lighting

2_14_16

I attended the photography workshop last weekend. It was very informative workshop and I learned a lot. Of course, I set the still life and place the daylight bulb next to the setting. I can manipulate the light now. Yippee!

Glasses

2_6_16

My farther told me that the craw loves a golf ball and glass. I do not care about the golf ball but sure love transparent glasses. I purchased many antique bottles last week and arranged them in so many different ways. They are so pretty when I set them under the sun.
