Lazy Day

7_27_16-b

It is a hot day. I can see so many of beautiful bougainvillea flowers are moving by gentle wind just outside of my window. I feel very lazy.

Dancing Trees

7_24_16-b

I love drawing. When I draw, the only things I need to pay attentions are the location of a focal point or points, contrast, and edges. So I can simply enjoy the act of drawing. It is fun not thinking so much about anything and building up the layers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t work at all. But I enjoy the process.

Summer Evening

7_21_16a

The subdivision we live is surrounded by the woody walk way. We enjoy walking through the nice greens with our dogs. It is almost a half mile. The distance is perfect for us and our old dog.  This is the image we usually see at the end of the evening stroll. It is wonderful to have a peaceful moment.

Shadow Play

Shadow-play-b

I found this image which I painted a long time ago. This small image is a prototype for the larger one you see at the top of this blog. I really like to draw and paint extremely long in horizontal direction. It is suitable for the landscape image I think. But its trouble is when you display an image with unconventional dimensions, you need to specially order the frame. In this case, I think that I found the frame first and then I created the composition worked for this ready made frame. I do not know what I was thinking about, but end up with its composition works..I think.

Summer weather

7_17

Yesterday I went to the nearby lake to take some photographs because the cloud was so beautiful. I walked around, took so many photographs and exchanged greetings with the ducks. When I came home and tried to see them on my computer, there was no card!! After that the weather was down hill. It stormed and I still hear the thunder outside (next day). I just laughed at myself and painted this.

I saw one of the most beautiful landscape painting with clouds by Canadian artist Renato Muccillo. I like to paint like the way he does. Oh there are so much to learn!

Moon Night

7_14_16

When I saw a strange looking tree in Mempkin Abby, I thought that a moon will be nice in its background. The moonlight and myself, I need to write a haiku.

Lilac Farm

7_11_16-Lavender-Farm

Judy goes to everywhere. I am very envious about her “Let’s go” business. If I go to a half of the places she goes, I will have more than enough images to paint in my life time. This painting is based on her photo of Lilac Farm she sent to me. It is absolutely beautiful place. I love to be there.

I started to use the airbrush medium instead of water in this image. Acrylic paints spread more smoothly and I had a great time mixing different colors.

Mempkin Abbey

7_03_16

We visited the Mempkin Abbey in Monks Corner, SC last week. This is the Roman Catholic Monastery established in 1949. It is such a peaceful place separate from our loud world. We just walked around and enjoyed beautiful summer morning. Its garden is facing to the Cooper river. We could see the river all the way disappearing to the haze.

Rip’s backyard

7_02_16

Rip is my wonderful friend and incredible artist. He can do just about everything well if he wants to do. He never stop moving, just keep going. This is an image of his backyard. I feel that he will be right back here and continue working..explaining to me about the wonder of the world. I love listening to his view.

A cup of tea

6_29_26

A wonderful friend of mine shared the loose tea with me. Actually two cans of very good tea. The aroma and taste of tea are best when we open the new can. I am thinking about making little sandwiches or baking cookies to go with it this afternoon. There are so many things going on in the world. Sometimes it is a good thing to enjoy our little space separating from the busy world.

These beautiful glass objects are from Judy. Someday I would like to paint all incredible things she has in her beautiful home.
