Spoleto Festival was finally over. We had so much rain this year…so much rain. I got a pair of rain shoes and tried to keep my feet dry.
Thank you very much everybody came to the show, I hope that you had a great time in Charleston.

I painted very similar image a few years ago. All objects are same but slightly different setting. I love those bottles and marbles. Those colors go so well together. I am going to put this image in the frame tomorrow. This will be the last image I paint for Spolato Festival. On this Wednesday I will set my new tent and get ready for the show. I hope that everything goes well.
I spent 8 hours to make 8 frames today. I did not make any mistakes, but it took quite long. I should have simplified the process, but no….I had to do my usual way. Just over 40 more to go. I am pretty sure that Picasso never had this problem!

I participated in the North Charleston Art Festival. I showed how to fold paper, Origami, to many children all day long yesterday and today. It was fun but noisy and sticky….children are always very sticky. Now coming back to home, I really enjoy the quietness. So I decided to finish this image and enjoy visual quietness. It was a nice place….Promise land, PA.

The Spoleto Festival is coming soon this month. I will show my works this year again. I am very excited, but at the same time overwhelmed by the tasks I need to take care of before hand. Since I paint small paintings on illustration board, I have to frame every single one of them ….under the glass. In next three weeks I will cut the glass and mat, and put together all framing parts for over 60 works. I guess that I am complaining something I should not do…. but it will be much fun just to paint.

We were sitting in our screened porch with a cup of coffee this morning. It was and is such a glorious morning. Everything is fresh and happy. Nice beginning of the summer?

These roses are so beautiful that I had to paint one more time. It is Spring now.

It is raining outside. It is more like a storm. Tree branches are wildly moving from one way to the other. But inside of our house is quiet. I just made a cup of strong Darjeeling tea and sitting in front of my computer. My kitty cat is sleeping on my lap. This is nice! I am thinking about my next painting..but I might grab a mystery novel and go to bed.
Acrylic on Illustration board…small painting…I am too lazy to measure this.
The warm sunlight shining on the white rose with cool crimson red is the most refreshing feeling I get from the nature in Spring morning. Red I see on the leaves and stems are warm, but flower pedals are always cool in this rose. However, when you look at this same rose in the afternoon, those cool color disappears and all flowers turn into most delightful warm beauty. Wonder of Spring!

I showed this image to a computer animation instructor yesterday. He did not figure out it was a computer generated image or a painting at the first glance. Good! Because I applied the high saturated hues and high contrasted values deliberately to simulate the computer coloring. These days people are used to see those dramatic combinations for all kinds of images and pay less and less attentions to the subtle approach toward image makings. I wanted to see how people react to see those coloring in a simple painting. My students liked it. It became more like a Disney forest, but I enjoy painting, too!
